We know that an effective way of gathering an online audience is by offering informative and genuinely helpful information to benefit clients and potential customers.

But we can’t just share and blurt out any old noise.

Social media channels act as the voice of your company, so it is hugely important to do your homework and take the time to ensure that your content is truthful, relevant and top quality.

As Hubspot brought to light, there are numerous ways in which you can improve your marketing content for the better.

First of all, unless you have written and researched content yourself, then it is worth fact checking any claims made! As your online voice, sharing any information that proves to be false will lose the faith of your existing clients and potential customers.

If you are making any claim (which is usually the case) it adds huge credibility to include data that supports your words. This data of course should be recent and more importantly, credible.

Using examples to put your words into context is also an advantage. The best way to do this is by painting a scenario that your clients can relate to. Though, visual examples work even better for this and can include a lot of valuable information in a simple image, and are more likely to be viewed and taken on board.

For increased credibility, adding quotes from respected sources is another great tactic to add weight to your point.

As Marlene Dietrich said:

“I love quotations because it is a joy to find thoughts one might have, beautifully expressed with much authority by someone recognized wiser than oneself.”

Any jargon should be removed, however, remember that there is a difference between keywords, SEOs and jargon. If your audience understands the jargon, or you are explaining it in your post, then do not worry. It is a blog full of technical gibberish that puts a reader off.

You aim is to have an easy-flowing, informative and well-researched blog. One final step is to have a colleague proof-read or sub-edit your blog to make sure all the kinks are worked out.

Or, if you do not have the time to generate such content, then outsourcing is always an option.
