Social Media Marketing - What the majority are missing
The vigilant businessman will always strive to know how marketers are using social media, and how consumers are responding – so reliable statistics can prove somewhat of a blessing.
That is why in this week’s blog, we will show what marketing tools more than half of brands are currently neglecting or missing-out on.
Instagram – now used by top brands
The social network and photo-sharing program has reeled in almost half of the world’s top brands, but 60% are still not on the case. The rise of Instagram has been astounding – the service is expected to reach over 100 million users by early Autumn – Facebook took four years to gain this following whilst Twitter took five. It is obvious then of Instgram’s worth as a social network and an effective marketing tool, though most brands are missing out as, out of the 3 million-strong Instagram audience in the Interbrand top 100 companies, the top 10 have 96% of the engagement.
Mobile marketing – neglected by top brands
74% of smartphone users say their favourite brands do not advertise to them on their mobile phones – leaving around a quarter of brands which are reaping the rewards of the mobile generation. Taking into account that of the 7 billion people on Earth, 5.1 billion own a mobile phone (Mobile Marketing Association Asia, 2011). Many brands are missing out on an army of clients who use their phones every waking hour.
Facebook’s ad tool – vastly improved
The social network titan has revamped its as creation tool, resulting in a far easier interface for marketers to use in general, but also integrating campaign goals, allowing users to decide what they want to achieve, such as more shares or likes.
The performance of each campaign can also be analysed, which altogether renders Facebook marketing far more efficient and effective than ever before. Besides, according to a HubSpot State of Inbound Marketing Report 2011 “The number of marketers who say Facebook is critical or important to their business has increased 83% in two years.”
